¢40 million in stolen motorcycles and ATVs
Judicial police are warning residents of Heredia of an increase in thefts of motorcycles and ATVs. In January, the agency received eight criminal complaints for an estimated ¢40 million ($77,972) in stolen property. According to police, the scam works when a supposed buyer arrives with a friend and then asks to test drive the bike. The buyer never returns and it is later learned that the friend is just someone recruited by Internet with no knowledge of the scam.
