1,000 children marched on Violence Prevention Day

March against violence

On Monday afternoon, the National Children’s Patronage (PANI) conducted a march in the framework of the Day for the Prevention of Violence against Children. A thousand children from various educational centers were summoned to participate.

The activity, called “Gracias por cuidarme” (thank you for taking care of me), was carried out from La Merced Park to Central Park in San José.

According to the PANI communications department,

the activity aimed to inform the population that child violence can be prevented… We want positive activities, so that we do not only talk about violence. We also want to work with parents, through various services such as the Foster Academy, the Early Intervention Center, among others.”

The institution said there are one million 300 thousand children in Costa Rica, 47 thousand of which are at risk, and that they wanted to emphasize the protection and shared solidarity towards that population.
