15 schools, 3 kindergartens and 5 schools of the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) will open their doors to robotics. A public-private partnership will allow about 9,000 students to develop their skills in this area.
Aprender Haciendo, Lego Education representative in Costa Rica, will collaborate with the National Mobile Technologies Program Tecno@prender, foster by the ministry.
Karla Salguero, director of technology resources from MEP, explained that this collaboration has to do with the integration of technology resources in the classroom. It focuses on the development of thematic areas in mathematics, Spanish, science; with the support of classroom technology packages to make classes more interesting.
Aprender Haciendo donated 45 sets of robotics to schools. Teams are valued at more than ¢ 50 million. The idea is to support existing curriculum helping teachers to develop their lessons through games.
Xinia Huertas, a teacher at Dante Alighieri School in Lourdes de Montes de Oca said that building concepts with tools where children are watching a concept helps them learn daily.
Educational robotics empowers students and their abilities in physics, mathematics, logic, programming, design, among others.
