The US Border Patrol has arrested 42 Central American immigrants who crossed the border with Mexico, according to Rodney Scott, head of that division.
Forty-two people crossed the border and were arrested. To be completely frank, there were lots of people who managed to cross the border,”
said Scott, from the San Diego Border Patrol sector.
Most of the people arrested are men. They were part of a group of about 500 people who tried to cross from the Mexican city of Tijuana to the United States on Sunday and were repelled with tear gas and rubber bullets.
This contingent had left a camp where some 5,000 mostly Honduran migrants settled after following the caravan with the intention of living in the United States.
We are in the process of building the new border wall here, but we have not completed it. There are sections that make up a border wall with scrap that the military gave us,”
added Scott.
The group broke knocked down a small section [of that wall]. They began to run and we were able to contain them using riot techniques,”
explained the officer.
