42 people in shelters following floods in Upala

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) confirmed that 42 people remain in a shelter in Upala as a result of the floods that hit the local population on Monday.

According to the institution, there have been 74 flood events in that community since dawn, as a result of heavy downpours.

Sigifredo Pérez, chief of operations of the Emergency Commission confirmed that they are in communication with the Municipality of Upala, where they reported damage on at least three bridges.

The mayor of Upala, Juan Acevedo, said they are mobilizing personnel for the respective assistance work, since they have been under the influence of rain for many hours.
