The Public Force will allocate 40 more officers for the community of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, in Limón.
They will join other 40 officers who are already in the area, so that there are 80 policemen who look after security.
Juan José Andrade, Deputy Minister of Security, commented that these officials will patrol the place on motorcycles among other actions.
The Chamber of Tourism and Commerce of the South Caribbean, community leaders, representatives of the various commercial activities, legislators Luis Vásquez and Danny Hayling, Deputy Minister Andrade and the police chiefs, reported on the actions to be conducted.
The strong work in the area will be executed for 100 days, with a possibility of extension and will include constant motorcycle tours, intelligence work, Special Forces incursions, and sea work to detect and stop potential drug boats. It will also incorporate two mobile delegations that will work 24 hours a day.
As part of the preventive actions the police will visit the shops and talk with tourists to give information and advice to take care of their belongings and avoid being victims of crime.
