In the last few hours, the 911 Emergency Service has received more than 8,700 reports of damages due to Tropical Storm Nate. Users have reported impacts in various parts of the national territory.
Among them, 231 have to do with landslides, 27 with strong winds and 2 with waves. In addition, 115 requests for inspections were received that were already met.
These data are likely to increase as we corroborate the varied information. It is important that the population reinforces surveillance, especially in areas susceptible to landslides. These rains are going to continue, the soils are saturated with water and there is a high vulnerability to landslides or river floods, so we all need to be alert,”
said Ivan Brenes, president of the National Emergency Commission.
Brenes called for people not to wait for the authorities to evacuate them and flee if they see signs of danger.
