One flight was cancelled at Juan Santamaría Airport due to ashfall

October 31, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Turrialba Volcano ash caused the cancellation of at least one flight at Juan Santamaría airport on October 30th.

American Airlines confirmed that Flight 1238, that should have left at 11:55 am to Miami, United States, was cancelled.

Juan Santamaría airport is not closed, though, since the departure of other flights were reported.

On its webpage, 5 other flights were cancelled. They were supposed to depart from 10 am to noon on October 30th. These flights were from the Jet Blue and Cubana de Aviacion companies. However it is unknown if the cancellation was due to ashfall.
