On Monday, Security Ministry officials welcomed a group of foreigners who will participate in the humanitarian mission “Pura vida”, which takes place in Piedra de Mesa de Telire, Talamanca, Limón.
Minister Gustavo Mata said that for the Public Force developing humanitarian work is of utmost importance, so 16 doctors, nurses, dentists and volunteers from the US Southern Command arrived in helicopters.
They will provide free care for the indigenous people of that area, along with 30 Costa Ricans. Furthermore, indigenous communities will receive services of preventive medicine, dentistry, pediatrics, ophthalmology and gynecology.
This is the fifth time that Costa Rica receives such assistance from the Embassy of the United States. The campaign will take place from the October 31st until November 5th.
