Different sectors that defend men’s rights supported a guideline introduced by the National Children’s Trust (PANI) that allows fathers to share with their children when there is a family separation process. Fathers can now request timetable for visits in a more accessible way.
It aims to encourage an immediate link unless there is some risk. PANI’s action intends to strengthen the presence of the father in the child’s life,
declared Eugenia Quesada, director of the entity.
The guideline was issued by Ana Teresa León, chief executive of PANI, in previous September. The document is clear: the right of children to share with both parents must be respected.
According to Quesada, PANI vision now reflects the right of children to share with their fathers and it is seen as a priority. As stated, in the past fathers could apply for timetable for visits, however the process was tedious and even an investigation had to be conducted to see their suitability to be related to children.
In addition, when protective measures were requested due to domestic violence, children involved were practically separated from the father while the issue was resolved in judicial courts.
