Companies interested in building a new 3-lane bridge on Virilla River, on Route 32, could submit bids until November 7th. On the same day, at 2:00 pm, the received bids were presented and studied in order to award the project.
According to Oldemar Sagot, an engineer from the Executive Unit of the National Roads Authority, both this project and the new 2-lane bridge in Santa Ana-Belen road, on Route 147, will start their construction phase in January if there are no appeals that could delay the process.
The new bridge on Route 32 has a 285-meter length, it includes 3 lanes, 3.60 meters each, and 1.50-meter sidewalks, and a meter for safety elements, such as barriers. The separation between the existing bridge and the new bridge to be built will be 5.50 meters.
This work will allow to have five lanes on Route 32, three ways towards the capital (the new bridge) and two ways towards Santo Domingo and the Caribbean (the current bridge).
