Personal and housing security should be strengthened during December since there is an increase of assaults, swindles and burglaries due to oversights.
For this reason, director of the Public Security Force and deputy minister Juan José Andrade said the people should have a preventive behavior that diminishes the risks and he detailed a series of tips to have a quiet, relaxing December:
-Plan your purchases. Andrade recommended to plan purchases in shopping malls, so no one goes alone, especially if the person is carrying cash. In addition, he suggests to use debit or credit cards.
-Scams: avoid strange people who try to do business in public places, especially near ATMs.
-Be careful: people who show cash in public places are “marked” by thieves and are likely to get robbed.
-Do not wear jewelry.
-Do not leave your home alone: if a family goes on vacation, Andrade recommended to trust the security of the house on a trustworthy person, so he/she can keep an eye on it.
