Helio Fallas, vice president of Costa Rica, is now the pro-tempore president of the Central American Integration System (SICA). He received such an honor from Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega.
According to Ortega, there is a common commitment to keep the Central American bloc together.
We are small, fragile nations and here we are. We do not have strong and solid economies that can help us to drive the project. Therefore, support relies on our own forces and capabilities” (…) Now it is up to the sister republic of Costa Rica,
declared the president, holding a symbolic flag of SICA.
Fallas reiterated the commitment of Costa Rica to renew the structure of the block. In addition, he declared that he will comply with mandates and agreements to achieve financial and efficient sustainability.
