The Vuelos Económicos Centroamericanos Airline (VECA) has announced that it will suspend operations for three months due to a restructuring process that will start next week.
The information was confirmed by José Luis Merino, advisor of the company.
The adviser indicated that the airline would also return a second aircraft that it rents for its operations. Last week it lost almost 800,000 dollars due to a rent debt.
He also said they would look for smaller aircrafts to reduce costs and maintain regional flights to Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
The airline would join another company to continue providing its services, but it doesn’t think it will stop operations.
Prior to these announcements, the company stopped providing its ticket reservation services both through its website and through the call center for alleged failures in the system.
VECA financial problems are taking place while two competitors started operations in Central America with low-cost flights: Wingo and Volaris.
