According to a publication made by the Mexican edition of Forbes magazine, Costa Rica stands out as the most prosperous country in Central America.
The country ranked 29th in the Global Prosperity Index and it is due to its good indicators in personal freedom, government and health.
Panama was the second Central American country in the ranking. The main strengths of this nation were observed in its business enviroment and social capital.
When compared to Latin America, Costa Rica reached the second position, because Uruguay obtained the first place. The South American country was ranked 28th in the index.
Globally, New Zealand ranks first in prosperity, followed by Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Canada.
The Legatum Institute conducted this study for the tenth consecutive year: it evaluates 149 countries in areas such as economics, education, entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, health, personal freedom, security and social capital.
