Washington and Tokyo called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the latest ballistic missile launches by North Korea.
A member of the UN executive body declared that the rally is likely to be held on Wednesday, when ambassadors return from a visit to the Lake Chad region.
On March 6th, North Korea launched four ballistic missiles in a new challenge to US President Donald Trump and three of them fell near the coasts of its ally Japan.
South Korea indicated that the missiles were launched towards the Sea of Japan and, along with the United States. it is “analyzing in detail” what happened, calling the behavior of its North neighbor “a real and immediate threat”.
Last month, Pyongyang had launched a ballistic missile, the first since October 2016, which according to Seoul, was intended to test US President Donald Trump’s response.
Trump then called North Korea a “big, big problem” and said he wanted to give a “very energetic” response.
