Expomóvil fair will start on March 16th in Pedregal Events Center. The Association of Importers of Vehicles and Machinery (AIVEMA) expects to exceed the numbers of the previous year’s edition, when 10,000 units were sold during the fair and the following 3 months, since the agencies maintained the benefits.
Carlos Aguilar, a spokesman for AIVEMA and coordinator of the fair, commented that the event offers the possibility of finding about 500 different vehicles in one place.
According to Aguilar, this year they expect “compact” vehicles will be main attraction, with accessories for connectivity, fuel efficiency and affordable prices.
Some 75,000 people visited Expomóvil last year. To exceed this number in 2017, 45 agencies (banks, commercial companies that offer navigation options, alarms and accessories), will be displaying their best offers.
Aguilar said AIVEMA reported sales of 56 thousand vehicles nationwide in 2016. According to the coordinator, despite the traffic, they expect people to be interested in vehicles that allow them to travel comfortably and without spending too much.
In response to consumer demand, AIVEMA spokesperson added that the agencies have taken their estimates to have enough vehicles to meet the expectations.
Given the problem of traffic jams, the fair’s schedules were expanded. On Thursday and Friday it will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., while on Saturday it will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. On Sunday, however, it will only be open until 8:00 p.m.
Ana Lucrecia Vargas, Marketing Director of Grupo Danissa, said that the Nissan brand has been in high demand, and they have been able to supply it.
We have had a lot of demand for models like the Qashqai, the Frontier and the Sentra and of course a strong demand for the Nissan Kicks that will debut this year,”
said Vargas.
Meanwhile, Hyundai’s regional marketing manager, Noelia Alfaro, said the brand’s goal is to place 2,000 units this year at Expomóvil.
