In the last 4 years, 19,208 new cases were recorded, as informed by the Surveillance Department of the Ministry of Health.
According to Allan Rímola, director of the technical secretariat of Mental Health, Costa Rica does not escape the international trend, which is clearly increasing.
Health authorities can determine that young adults are the most-at-risk population.
Psychologists agreed that if there is an early diagnosis, the recovery will be fast and its consequences will be avoided, as this disease can cause loss of work, break-ups, and even death .
Therefore, they urge parents to talk about the topic and to know the symptoms.
Remember that depression does not mean that the person is not striving or does not want to feel good.
