The authorities of the National Blood Bank (BNS) urgently need citizens to go and donate blood of all types, because the reserves are very low and they fear not being able to deal with the emergencies of hospitalized patients.
In order to serve donors, the BNS will keep its facilities open until Saturday at noon.
For Sunday, April 2nd, a new donation day is scheduled in San Ramón.
The bank’s facilities are located to the south side of the Catholic Church of Zapote and many people are expected to join the cause, especially as Easter is approaching, when donations are reduced and needs are increased by the amount of emergencies that are treated in all medical centers.
Requirements:
-Being between 18 and 60 years old
-Weighing 50 kilos or more
-Carrying and identity document
-Eating a light breakfast
The National Blood Bank provides 50% of the blood needed by the hospitals of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) and it’s open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
