Legislator Ligia Fallas, from Frente Amplio, encouraged Venezuelan congresswoman Dinorah Figuera to check that in Costa Rica there are also citizens who eat out of garbage.
I invite her to stay with me now in the office and see there are Costa Ricans in that condition, and not because of that I go to another country to tell them that they have to make decisions … There are Costa Ricans who eat out of trash. She can come and see it. They are not one or two, they are many,
she said.
The declarations were a response after Figuera denounced, in the Legislative Assembly, that in Venezuela, people wait for the garbage truck to be able to eat. The legislator is visiting the country.
According to Fallas, the Costa Rican state should worry about reducing social inequality, rather than messing with Venezuela’s sovereignty .
I declare myself “Chavista” (supporter of former president Hugo Chávez) and recognize that effort made by commander Chávez to achieve Bolivar’s dream of uniting our great homeland and recognizing the legitimate, autonomous, sovereign and constitutional government of Nicolás Maduro,
she added.
