A message written in Arabic warned about a possible situation of risk, danger or attack during the concert of Ariana Grande. This was the alert that led the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) to carry out a police deployment with the help of various institutions, which culminated on Sunday morning with the arrest of a 22-year-old Colombian of named Caicedo López.
Walter Espinoza, director of the OIJ, explained that the threats were made through the social networks of the company that organized the event, so they worked to trace the IP address from where they came from and that’s how they determined the cellphones were in The Colleges of Moravia.
Yesterday morning, allusive information was received about the existence of the threat that circulated in social networks, as a result of which the working protocols aimed at addressing situations such as these were taken. We worked with other police forces and institutions and at the same time began the investigation of the threat in social networks,”
explained Espinoza.
The director of the OIJ indicated that the work of that police force should be directed to verify if there was indeed a threat, because these are very sensitive things that can end in something nefarious, and not to verify if the threat was a bomb or not.
According to Espinoza, after the arrest of the suspect, the OIJ now had no business in security matters or the logistics of the event.
The producer of the event was consulted if a special security protocol had been implemented in this situation, but indicated that they still did not have the confirmation on the subject and that as soon as they had an official statement they would communicate it.
