A 53-year-old man was arrested in New Jersey, USA, because he has a pending sentence for aggravated rape to the detriment of a 6-year-old girl in Costa Rica.
The subject landed last Thursday at Juan Santamaría Airport in Alajuela In the custody of immigration officials of the United States. The man has a national and international arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court of Cartago for the crime of aggravated rape.
The abuses occurred from 1999 to 2001. The subject fled the country to the United States in 2002, while facing a judicial process for the aforementioned cause. However, in the month of July of the current year, thanks to the Intepol-OIJ coordination and investigation, he was arrested by the New Jersey police.
The subject was received and escorted by officers of the National Office of Interpol to the cells of the First Judicial Circuit of San José and then placed under the authority of the Criminal Court of Cartago.
