On Tuesday, the Government Council met and accepted the resignation of Renato Alvarado from the board of directors of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS). He was representative of the business sector. Now he leaves to join the work teams of Carlos Alvarado’s campaign.
Alvarado presented the resignation last week, and is already working for the candidate of the Citizen Action Party (PAC). He would even be willing to be part of a future cabinet in case the PAC wins the elections in the second round.
I would leave that to Don Carlos. But we are contributing to the campaign, mainly in the agricultural sector,”
said Alvarado, who is the President of the Costa Rican Chamber of Producers.
He is now a former director of the Fund and is a member of the board of directors of the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (Uccaep) and directs some of the commissions of this organization, such as the environment committee.
His experience includes working in the milk and livestock production sector. He also believes that his contribution to the campaign can help enhance the country’s agricultural sector.
Alvarado was on the board of the CCCSS from 2004 to 2010 and returned to that position in 2014 with the arrival of the current Administration. His appointment ended in April this year.
The businessman believes that there is a lot to be done in the Fund and that efforts should be directed towards restructuring the institution to improve the provision of health services.
