The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) forecasts isolated rains and more sunny mornings for the next few days.
On Sunday afternoon at a press conference, the meteorologist Werner Stolz said that weather conditions significantly improved this Sunday, compared to Friday and Saturday. He added they do not have tropical waves in sight, at least for the next 72 hours.
The high pressure system that affected the country generated intense rains that trapped 450 people in route 32, some of them for almost 48 hours. In addition, routes and communities affected by landslides were also reported.
Lorena Romero, from the National Commission of Emergencies (CNE), emphasized that they will keep the yellow alert in Sarapiquí and Limón. This is important in the management of operations and damage assessment.
David Meléndez, Head of Emergencies of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), explained that the calculation done so far by the engineers of the National Road Council (Conavi), for the impact in at least 19 routes is estimated at ¢5 billion.
