A man was arrested for posing a woman, contacting potential female victims in vulnerable conditions through social networks, and offering them fake jobs with the real purpose of raping them.
With the fake profile, presumably on Facebook, the subject named Naranjo Salas earned the trust of the victims and then told them that a friend was going to contact them to make them a job offer in the capital. However, it was all part of a plot to rape them and steal their belongings.
The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) indicated that the suspect had contacted -at least- three victims. They suspect there may be more affected women.
Naranjo is 32 years old and lived in Cristo Rey, San José. He was arrested on Thursday in the vicinity of the Clínica Bíblica. His identification was possible thanks to complaints filed with the judicial police and a tattoo on one of his legs.
We urge the population to please come to the offices of the OIJ to file their respective complaints, or to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. It is possible that there are more victims contacted by this subject,”
explained Angie Bartels, head of the crimes against the physical integrity section of the OIJ.
