President Carlos Alvarado said that the decision by legislators to exonerating the basic basket and private education from taxes is a mistake.
According to the president, “eroding” the tax package that his government defends could have repercussions in the future, after its approval, because the government will have to ask the Legislative Assembly for a second tax package.
Alvarado also said that these cuts will not give a convincing sign to the risk rating agencies and international agencies that the country is addressing its fiscal deficit in the best way possible.
The president added that he hopes these taxes can be included again in the remainder of the discussion of the tax package in the Legislative Assembly.
The legislators cut revenues by ยข 91 billion, the result of more taxes, which the Executive had to alleviate the economic deficit.
