Firefighters took care of important fuel leak in RECOPE pipeline

September 17, 2018 by Staff News Writer

On Sunday night, several firefighting units were sent to El Coyol de Alajuela, 400 meters from Dos Pinos in the direction of San José, after a leak was detected in a RECOPE pipeline.

The information was confirmed by the Fire Monitoring Center, who pointed out they sent an extinguishing unit, a hazardous materials unit, and a rescue unit.

The events took place while the RECOPE campuses remained closed and several gas stations reported shortages, mainly in the remote areas of the Greater Metropolitan Area.

The authorities requested the suspension of the pump from La Garita and the closure of a lane on route 1, as a safety measure.

This Sunday, the seventh day of the national strike, the fuel distributors also announced the suspension of the service, arguing security reasons, extended days and lack of support from RECOPE.
