A total of 49 officers of the Public Force had to be assisted during the operations to rehabilitate the passage through public roads blocked by protesters from September 12th to 17th.
Of these officials, 46 were treated in ambulances for attacks with stones, while two were treated by the National Insurance Institute, and one was incapacitated.
The figures are the balance of the authorities, made by Security Minister Michael Soto, after just over a week of union protests against the tax reform. About 40 arrests are reported for these incidents.
The hierarch reiterated the blockades of public roads are being addressed by the police forces, through operations to guarantee the right to free passage and in which forced intervention is used only as a last resort.
Soto also explained that a protocol is applied to first negotiate with protesters, informing they are committing a crime and they are urged to depose the blockade. Only if this doesn’t work will force be used to dissolve the blockade.
