On October 26th, 100 young people from Puntarenas began taking English lessons, taught by native teachers from the United States. All of them will be trained in this language in the framework of the National Employment Program (Pronae) of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) and the Aliarse Foundation.
We feel great enthusiasm and satisfaction to participate in the beginning of lessons to train these first 100 young people from Puntarenas in the English language with native teachers from the United States as part of the national strategy of the Alliance for Bilingualism,”
said the Minister of Work, Steven Núñez.
The lessons will last one year. Every four months the teachers rotate so that the students have the opportunity to learn different accents and experiences. Upon completion, they will be certified under the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC).
According to Núñez,
the management of a second language is key to opening job opportunities for people.”
In addition, they will also have life skills courses and training on topics such as the job search process.
These courses are part of the agreement signed on August 29th between the ALIARSE Foundation, Cinde and the MTSS. The objective is to train a thousand people, of which live outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM).
