On Thursday afternoon, legislators approved a motion presented by Melvin Núñez to recognize the child Ricardo Ferry, for his exemplary act of rescuing a French minor in Cocles beach.
The tourist’s life was at risk because she was drowning; however, 7-year-old Ferry did not think twice and went into the sea to save her.
The incident occurred on October 20th and, as reported by the Costa Rican Surf Federation, based on the version of witnesses, the current took her away from the shore. The boy acted on time and rode her on his board.
When asked about his actions, ‘Ricky’ said
It’s what gentlemen do.”
This act of courage deserves the greatest recognition, for that great willingness to want to help others,”
says the approved motion.
The child and his surf instructor, Marvin Pérez, will be celebrated next Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the Hall of Expressionists.
