Four people were arrested on Wednesday suspected of committing at least seven assaults on people working as Uber drivers in Desamparados.
The suspects respond to the surnames Jiménez Mairena, Morales Valverde, Porras Camacho and Medina Brenes (female), who are being investigated for the alleged crimes of aggravated robbery committed between September and November during the night time.
The accused allegedly used the same modus operandi every time: they requested the transportation service from downtown Desamparados, Gravilias or Dos Cercas, and asked to be taken to another location within the same canton or in the southern sector of San José.
Once at the destination or during the journey, they threatened the victim with a firearm or a knife and stripped them of cash, cell phone and, occasionally, personal documents, and then fled the place.
