The Executive Power announced on Tuesday that it is not aware that in the country there is a network of clandestine shelters that provide refuge for Nicaraguans fleeing the crisis in their country due to the repression of Daniel Ortega and his wife, Rosario Murillo.
This was stated by the Minister of Public Security, Michael Soto, after airing a publication of the American newspaper New York Times that mentions these types of shelters operate on national soil. The publication was signed by journalist Frances Robles.
Soto said the government will contact the communicator to try and get more information about it. The hierarch said that, if confirmed, it would be taken care of immediately. He also denied the presence of an armed subversive group in Costa Rican soil.
The government of Costa Rica does not favor or allow the use of the Costa Rican territory for any type of activities that have to do with problems on neighboring countries,”
said Soto.
