The Public Ministry made it clear – once again – that they have sufficient elements to take former President Óscar Arias Sánchez, 1986-1990 and 2006-2010, to trial for the Crucitas case.
Arias, accused of the alleged crime of malfeasance, faces a preliminary hearing that will define whether he will be accused.
Roberto Dobles Mora, former Minister of Environment and Energy (2006-2010) and eight officials from the National Environmental Technical Secretariat (Setena) and the National Registry will join Arias, suspected of malfeasance, since they apparently incurred in irregularities around a decree of national convenience signed in 2008 in favor of the mining project promoted by the Canadian company Industrias Infinito in Crucitas de Cutris, San Carlos.
Sofía Valenzuela, one of the prosecutors in charge of the case, explained that the first participation in the hearing was held by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), an entity that appears as a plaintiff in the process.
