Fumigators may be using inappropriate pesticides in your home

January 29, 2019 by Staff News Writer

Are you one of those people who use agricultural pesticides to fumigate your home or office? If your answer is affirmative, you better be very careful because these chemicals are used exclusively for open fields and for the use of professionals.

The Ministry of Health issued a health warning asking the population to use “prepared” pesticides inside the buildings. That is, those that do not need to be diluted in water or other solvents, because industrial or agricultural chemicals might harm your health and even cause death.

The recommendation, besides not manipulating them, is that if a company or person is hired to do fumigation work inside buildings, offices or houses, make sure they are not using industrial-type chemicals.

Health, through the Directorate of Regulation of Products of Sanitary Interest, alerts the general population about the inappropriate use of pesticides for professional use or agricultural use to eliminate pests in homes or offices, which represents a high risk to the health of people, can cause poisoning and even death.
