Nearly 95 thousand people from the province of Limón will benefit this year with the reconstruction of 38 projects that will allow communities to reduce the impact of emergencies through the intervention of river beds, dams, construction of bridges and roads, and more.
The cantons of Guácimo, Talamanca, Siquirres, Limón, Pococí and Matina, in province of Limón will receive more than ¢8 billion.
The Board of Directors of the CNE approved an investment of ¢3 billion for the development of five bridges, seven studies, three sewer systems and a channel intervention in several districts of these six cantons of Limón.
In addition, they plan to use ¢2 billion to carry out two studies, 11 roads and rebuild a bridge in the cantons of Bataan, Guápiles, Cahuita, Sixaola and Río Blanco in that Caribbean area.
The reconstruction of a highway in the district of Cahuita, Talamanca, is currently underway for an amount of ¢37 million.
Alexander Solis, director of the CNE, stated that it is essential to work on the protection, reconstruction and studies of public infrastructure to avoid reproducing vulnerability in the communities in the face of events that may occur due to natural and climatic factors.
Some of the beneficiary communities are Río Jiménez, Bratsi, Pacuarito, Bataan, Colorado, Guácimo, Duacari, Blanco River, La Estrella Valley, Cahuita, Matina, Carrandí, Cariari, Siquirres, Guápiles and Sixaola.
