The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) filed a complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica against a psychiatrist named Calderón, who recommended teachers to leave the country during the strike.
The information was confirmed by Nelly Venegas, head of the Disciplinary Regime Department of the MEP to Columbia News. According to Venegas, the doctor had made medical judgments to several teachers with dates after their trips.
The MEP official also stated that the three officials had their due process and then were dismissed from their positions. Another case continues in research.
The MEP provided various documentation to the College and now it is waiting for a response from them.
The Department of Disciplinary Management has issued 26 dismissals without employer responsibility. Other cases are under investigation pending resolution.
