In the midst of questioning against the bill to decide the future of technological transport platforms, including Uber, the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado does not rule out that the government presents a new proposal.
His statements come after the Ministry of Finance, the Comptroller General of the Republic and opposition legislators and the ruling party bench criticized the proposal presented by the Executive on January 22nd.
The comptroller said that the plan does not indicate possibilities for the user to appeal to any administrative instance to enforce their rights.
The Treasury opposes the fact that the Mobility Fund -which would be created by means of a 3% tax for each trip made- favor the taxi drivers sector, since the text establishes that 80% of these resources be for subsidies for that sector.
This Tuesday the Minister of the Presidency, Rodolfo Piza, detached the Executive Power from the discussion of this project. Piza said that the project, which at one point the Presidency classified as integral, “was only a working draft.”
