Although the cameras usually to catch a glimpse of them at night, two margay cats surprised us with a morning walk by the streams in Guanacaste.
According to the time of the Guanacaste Wildlife Monitoring video, the cats were at Mar Vista de Brasilito on Saturday at 6:14 am.
Apparently, it was an adult female and her cub. The Spanish name of the species, “manigordo”, references its large fat legs. They are also called ocelots, and they are found mainly in the dry forest.
