This year there will be more direct flights between Canada and Costa Rica. The airline Air Canada announced that it will increase its operations in Costa Rica.
Unlike other periods, this year the Canadian airline will fly to Costa Rica uninterruptedly between April and October. Additionally, the company will fly for the first time to the Daniel Oduber Airport in Liberia.
This increase is the result of the Investment Attraction strategy carried out by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) in coordination with the manager in charge of Juan Santamaría, Aeris Holding Costa Rica, and with the administrator of Daniel Oduber, Coriport, to increase the number of flights and destinations to Costa Rica,”
explained the ICT in a press release.
The extension of the season implies an increase of 36% in the number of seats compared to the 2018 season. The Toronto-Liberia route will go from 2,856 seats last year to 4,008 in 2019, while the Toronto-San José route will go from 7,219 seats to 12,690 in 2019.
Air Canada will fly to Liberia in an Airbus A321 with 137 seats every Tuesday, from April 30th to October 22nd and four times a week, on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from October 27th to December 17th.
The airline will also fly to San José on Saturdays from November 2nd to December 14th, with 282 seats and three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, between December 16th and 28th.
Last year, 217,000 Canadians came to Costa Rica and represented 7% of total tourist arrivals to the country and 14% of North America.
The visits of Canadian citizens to Costa Rica occur mostly from December to March, which are the hardest in the winter.
