Most countries of the Lima Group want to use the opportunity of the most important meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) to support the Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó, recognized as president of that country by 54 nations, and to discipline the president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega.
Both political actions are being undertaken this week in Medellín, Colombia, where the OAS General Assembly will be held on June 26th and 28th.
At the moment the Costa Rican Foreign Ministry has not confirmed if the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Ventura, will attend the meeting.
Diplomatic sources told Efe that the objective of most of the members of the Lima Group is to approve two resolutions: to legitimize the diplomatic representation of Guaidó in the OAS, and advance the application of the Inter-American Democratic Charter to Nicaragua.
