Walmart announced that will change contract conditions for 500 outsourced positions and will open up 1,000 new vacancies for its 185 stores and selling stations Palí and Maxipalí.
Until now, Walmart would hire contracting agencies that provided outsourced workers. These employees would do a few hours work shifts at Walmart and afterwards would go to another supermarket to take on similar tasks.
Walmart said that the change of contract is based on security, employees identification with the company and improvement of customer assistance, according to Aquileo Sánchez, regional director of Walmart Corporative Affairs.
The vacancies are for working on shelfs and customer assistance. The hiring process is on-line and offers positions for all over the country, especially in rural areas where this chain has an important presence.
Among all stores (Walmart, Más x Menos, Palí y Maxipalí), this chain currently has 9.000 contract workers.
