Women’s presence in the labor market is expected to be promoted through the Equality and Gender Equity in Employment Program, which also aims to improve the quality of their jobs.
This program is promoted by the Instituto Nacional de la Mujer (INAMU) and it will start with those companies that sign a letter of intent.
It aims to increase sensibility and to provide information so gaps can be identified and action plans can be taken.
For many years, the INAMU has been working on a management model of gender equality to close gaps in employment by creating mechanisms of equality. This model is called Gender Equality Plan,
explained Alejandra Mora, INAMU’s executive chief.
That plan promotes the elimination of gender inequalities in the workplace by considering the implementation of a balance between work life and family-personal life, access to work, equal payment and measures to prevent and address the domestic and gender violence.
This year, our goal is to have at least 20 committed companies that are willing to ensure gender equality in their organizations. Therefore, women will be able to work, they will be able to get promoted and the companies will have a more inclusive economic growth that manages to incorporate 50% of women who are out of the economy,
declared Mora.
