For the first time, 25 Costa Ricans won a place in Pokémon World Championship, which will be held from August 19th to August 21st in California, The United States.
To be part of the competition, Costa Rican participants had to obtain more than 150 points in several national and regional tournaments through Nintendo 3DS. This is the first time a domestic team in involved in this kind of event that is winning more and more fans every day.
My expectation is to see at least one Latin American person in the finals and of course I hope it is a Tico. In Costa we have a great level, but we could be missing a bit of experience in international events,
said Raúl Arias, one of Costa Rican participants.
Arias explained that a few weeks ago there was a virtual tournament, where different American countries competed, and Costa Ricans reached the third position.
He also stated that these Pokémon games have been played for more than a decade through devices like Nintendo 3DS. However, recently it has had a great success thanks to Pokémon Go.
