President Luis Guillermo Solís is filled with concern since Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega announced he will nominate his wife, Rosario Murillo, as vice president in the next presidential elections.
We are concerned about the concentration of power that is taking place in that country, that is not new in the political history of Nicaragua, which has taken an obviously worrying turn,”
said Solís.
He added that he hoped the election process would not undermine democracy or disrespect civil liberties and diplomatic relations with Costa Rica.
Nicaragua will held elections next November 6th to elect a new president, vice president, 90 legislators for the congress and 20 for the Central American Parliament.
Murillo is currently the power behind the throne, and as a First Lady and current coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council, she makes many decisions.
