On Sunday, as part of the International Youth Day, the Government reported on national television the installation of “Move Costa Rica”, a platform of citizen participation that integrates organizations, institutions and social movements in building solutions to fight inequality and improving opportunities for people.
The authorities mentioned that they are in a process of making young people visible, recognizing the need to make a change to give them greater opportunities.
Young people need to participate. We need to remember that we are constantly changing. We cannot do it alone. We have to be realistic and see all long term projects. Remember that nobody is going to give us a house,”
said Antonieta Gamboa, from the Cantonal Committee of the Young Person in Coto Brus.
Participation from young people in development partnerships in community groups, in all kinds of organizations, whether artistic, cultural or related to sports, would be key to achieving an active role in that part of the population.
If we unite everyone, we will be able to generate a change in behavior. If young people begin to take on that responsibility the impact will be bigger. I want to invite all young people in Costa Rica that to engage together to build a better Costa Rica through all initiatives and be part of Movemos Costa Rica,”
said Ricardo Sánchez, Deputy Minister of Youth.
