From now on , the cards to visit patients in San Juan de Dios Hospital have a barcode, which speeds up the daily entry of over a thousand people.
Walter Ureña, deputy administrator of the hospital, declared that with this improvement, there is greater control of visitors. They also were able to reduce the admission time to 35 minutes. Before it took an hour or more to enter the hospital, now, with the new system, it takes 25 minutes, allowing visitors to spend more time with inpatients.
To implement this system, a single card for inpatient is delivered. In addition, family members may only enter through Paseo Colón main door.
It works in the following way:
The visitor presents the card to the security guard, the entry is registered in the system by an optical reader that identifies the barcode and the system automatically informs if the patient is accompanied or not.
The system does not allow the entry of 2 or more people at the same time. The visitor must sign out, otherwise the card is blocked and no one else can enter to visit the patient.
If the card is lost or damaged, the user can request another one in the service admission. In this case the first card is not longer used for admission.
