A minor under 17 years old is investigated for alleged possession and production of child pornography.
He traveled to Germany last April to attend a student exchange. However, police suspects that he has continued to commit these crimes in that country.
That is why the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) is coordinating with the German Police to deepen the investigation.
It all started three months ago when the US Embassy in Costa Rica alerted authorities about an IP address located in the country, which has uploaded more than 500 child-pornography images.
The same email address used at that time was used in Germany, where the minor is nowadays.
Police raided the child’s father’s house in Escazú and his mom’s house located in Cártago.
While the raids were carried out in Escazú and Cártago, Police in Germany also implemented a similar operation to seize evidence to help the investigation process. In the raids, electronic tablets were seized, as well as pendrives, computers, cellphones, routers, among others,
informed the OIJ through a press release.
Apparently, the minor shared the content over the Internet with other users from different countries.
