President of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solís, First Lady Mercedes Peñas and Foreign Minister Manuel González abandoned the session of the Assembly of the United Nations when Michael Temer, president of Brazil, started his speech.
Representatives of Ecuador, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Bolivia and Cuba did the same.
Temer took office after Dilma Rousseff’s deposition. She is accused of corruption and influence peddling by the Congress. The Congress’s decision was defended by the Brazilian President during his speech in New York.
Frente Amplio recently rejected Brazilian Congress’ decision, despite the alleged violations of the Brazilian constitution by Rousseff.
