From 5 p.m. on Saturday, Turrialba volcano showed a new increase in seismicity, as well as the emission of steam, gases and ash.
The latest report of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) details the presence of an ash cloud of less than 500 meters, heading northwest.
The seismogram amplitudes observed in the seismic station located in the volcano from 5:00 p.m. (Saturday) indicate variations in the amplitude associated with an increased emission of ash,”
says the report.
According to the institution, ash and gases could be affecting the nearby areas, such as Raicero, Finca Central, Finca Silvia, and Finca San Bosco. OVSICORI added that until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, they only had a report of ashfall in Heredia.
