In a peaceful protest, a group of taxi drivers demanded that the Constitutional Court, through 2 writs of protection, determined the illegality of mobile applications that provide transport service.
Right now institutions such as ARESEP, the Central Government and even the Traffic Institution, argue that they cannot enforce the law if the writs of protections are not ruled on the appeal,
explained Rubén Oreamuno, representative of the taxi drivers at the Public Transport Council.
According to them, since Uber company operates in the country, taxi drivers have been economically affected and they want the Constitutional Court to solve the problem.
The demonstration took place near the National Children’s Hospital and the Columbus Center.
Taxi drivers protested around Guanacaste, Alajuela, Cartago and San José.
